HeatWave is a show choir founded in 1991 as a positive outlet and educational opportunity for 4-H youth in Rock County.  HeatWave exists to teach performance skills and develop talent; to encourage cooperation and creativity; to expand and demonstrate leadership and communication skills; and to promote Rock County 4-H as its musical ambassadors.

HeatWave has 39 members this year who come from all across Rock County representing 18 4-H clubs.  The group is open to anyone who is 13 years old or older and is enrolled in the Rock County 4-H program.  We accept all youth who have an interest.  Our only prerequisite is enthusiasm and a commitment to hard work.  We do not hold auditions.

HeatWave is supported entirely by contributions from members, their families, 4-H organizations, and other generous individuals.  HeatWave has several fundraising events each year, including our annual raffle.  Donations of any size are accepted, appreciated, and greatly needed for sound equipment, costumes, props, and other needs.  If you wish to contribute, contact Janet Kassel at 876-6311.  Please make checks payable to HeatWave.  (4-H is a 501(c)(3) tax-exempt, non-profit organization.)  Donations to HeatWave are tax deductible.

HeatWave members are creative, cooperative youth who work well within a wide range of ages, backgrounds and skills.  They are an integral part of all aspects of the group.  Member involvement includes:

  • Choreography

  • Vocal development

  • Sound

  • Fund-raising

  • Costume design and prop building
